The MCI Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020 (now under NMC) permit registered doctors to provide teleconsultation services and issue prescriptions digitally. Key provisions:
- Doctors can conduct video/audio consultations for follow-ups and non-emergency conditions
- A first consultation for a new, undisclosed illness should ideally be in-person
- Doctors must maintain proper records of all teleconsultations
- Digital prescriptions with e-signatures are valid
